Student Leadership

We have high expectations for Sixth Formers at our school. We expect our students to have an active role in the school community, creating links with fellow students in all years also making links with the local community

Student leadership is important to us at Arrow Vale.  All students in Sixth form are expected to undertake an element of Civic Responsibility.  The role of the Student Leadership Team was praised by Ofsted during their most recent visit.  The Team, made up of Sixth Form students, play a significant role in the day-to-day student life at the School.  Each student committees have a different area of focus, including the Charity Committee’s organisation of a range of fundraising events throughout the year and the Media Committee’s promotion of various events and aspects of student wellbeing.  We have a Student Council that represent the student voice and a Learning Forum for students to input on how they are taught and learn.

Our main aim for student leadership is to provide opportunities for students to demonstrate their talents, skills, and interests while continuing to develop new skills.’ At Arrow Vale we want our Student Leaders to…

  • Become Leaders amongst their peers

  • Be motivated to move the school and the student body forward

  • Develop skills outside of subject areas and develop life skills to take forwards into the future.

  • Promote the achievements of the school in the school and the outside community

Our students also contribute to a Reading Programme in which support is given to lower school through the help of Sixth Form readers, developing their confidence and abilities.

Our Sixth Form also act as subject mentors by supporting Year 11 students in lessons by sharing their experiences and best practice having recently taken their GCSE’s.
